Linda Scott will give a special presentation...

Event starts: August 19 2010

Linda Scott will give a special presentation about Apple-Head Dolls as the Summer Highlights Program for the day at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm near Stroudsburg.
Early settlers made dolls for their children out of natural materials they had on hand.
Dolls were made from things like muslin, nuts, cornhusks, corncobs, sawdust and apples.
Apple-head dolls will be created as they were 200 years ago, still the charming, wrinkly-faced characters that they were in days of yore.
One firm, ripe apple, a knife, wire for the body, wool or flax for the hair, and some fabric for the clothes is all it takes to craft a toy for some lucky little girl.
Watch as Linda skillfully demonstrates this Early American craft for you.
Highlights are featured from 10:00am until 3:30pm at Quiet Valley in addition to the regular tour.
Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm is a restored and working 19th century farm, complete with costumed guides and lots of historic demonstrations.
In addition to today's program, a variety of early American skills are demonstrated daily.
This non-profit, educational organization is located 31 2 miles south of Stroudsburg off of Business Route 209; follow signs.
