Animal Hospital to Expand Services
Animal Hospital to Expand Services - Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 4:21PM EST
STROUD TOWNSHIP - When Jeremy Wentz told people he was buying an animal hospital, in this economy, they thought he was crazy. "Friends, family, my wife is like what are you thinking," he laughed.
But the animal loving doctor is no scaredy cat. He recently bought Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital in Stroud Township. Wentz said, "There's such a great human animal bond that you're not only helping pets but the owners as well."
Right now the hospital is open six days a week, on average 12 hours a day. Come spring, it will open seven days a week and within a year the Doctor hopes to be open 24 hours a day.
Pet owners like Susan Gordon thought the news came at just the right time. "With the extended hours and extended days a week is really helpful to animal lovers."
The hospital also helps animals without owners. It offers a 20% discount to animal rescue group Camp Papillon. "I think it's just really great for the community to help the community out as much as possible," said Wentz.
Helping animals seven days a week may leave the doctor dog tired but he knows he has to work hard to be top dog in the veterinary business.
The doctor worries he will soon see an explosion of strays. Since he state ruled Monday there is no Pocono organization that can take in lost pets, Doctor Wents worries people will just dump them at his door.
