CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Carol Soden of Carbondale is on a mission. She's trying to organize a drive to send supplies to our troops in Iraq.
The effort began when Carol's 21-year-old son, Bruno, was deployed to the war zone. He e-mailed his mother about a need for things like soap, shampoo, and shaving jell. Carol says the troops are looking for items in three basic categories. Personal items like soap and hand lotions, food supplies such as mints and hard candy, and entertainment items such as board games and cards.
Tobacco Road Shops in the area have agreed to serve as drop off spots for donations. There's also a need for cash contributions to hep with shipping costs.
Carol says the drive is not a dated effort for the holidays, but an ongoing effort to support our troops with packages from home.
Carol will also accept donations and questions at her Carbondale home. She can be reached at (570) 282-2315.
